who was pulled unconscious from a house fire last night in san francisco is in the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. the fire broke out in the diamond heights neighborhood shortly after 9 last night. a charred mattress was left in the street. flames were put out quickly and the fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire. >> for the second time this month santa clara county paid cash for weapons. a gun buy-back was held yesterday morning at an airport in san jose. people lined up early and turned in guns they no longer wanted and got cash. >> never use it. but i didn't want to take that chance getting angry and using it. so it's a good time to turn it in and make a profit. >> whereas last year we finally reached the level of twelve guns, this year we've now gone over 500 guns. just in this event alone. >> $100 was given for handguns and rifles. $200 for assault-type weapons. more than 1100 weapons were turned in at the buy back three weeks ago. >>> also new this morning a san bruno community will unavailable a mural, memorializing the victims of the

started this easter sunday gathering at san francisco's highest peak for a sunrise service. we're live on mount davidson with more. >> reporter: good morning, carolyn. that sunrise service here ended just about an hour ago. now we have mount davidson to ourselves. the ceremony was majestic. we're at the canopy of trees and it was at the base of this cross, san francisco's highest peak. it began with bagpipers. take a listen. ♪ hundreds of people, families, friends, religious and spiritual made the pilgrimage through the woods and rugged terrain to begin their southeast sunday in prayer and celebration. they started coming about 5:00 this morning. the morning's sunrise service was the 91st anniversary of the early morning tradition. for many, it's an annual journey to mount davidson. the area residents and a family from san diego came here to take in the splendor. >> a wonderful time of worship with everyone coming together with other churches to celebrate jesus christ risen, it's amazing. i'm grateful to be here. >> coming here is going to be a great experience because we're clo

afternoon's performance of the san francisco symphony is cancelled because of the ongoing strike by symphony musicians. that's in addition to last night's concert and two other performances that were already cancelled. abc7 news reporter sergio tells us, this week's prestigious tour of the east coast is also in jeopardy. ♪ >> ticket holders were met by a trio of woodwinds outside of the box office and some picketing. >> we wanted to be here to explain to them the situation and just -- have a little music going for them to listen to and to enjoy so at least they get something to hear. >> as they played and picketed out here, negotiations continued inside over terms for a new contract. these musicians say the san francisco symphony has a stellar pedigree, including several grammy awards, so they deserve a bump in pay. the los angeles philharmonic, the chicago symphony orchestra, they also want to recruit the best talent. we need to be able to offer a competitive salary. as you very well know, we have probably the highest cost of living. >> on average each earned about $165,000 a yea

suspects this week alone. an incident in san jose and a separate one in san francisco both involved car chases and ended up with police fatally shooting the suspects. reporting live in hayward, kira klapper, abc7 news. >> thanks, kira. we will have more on that on our newscast tonight. >>> san jose police continue to search a stretch of highway 85 for evidence tossed out of a speeding car by a man trying to get away from officers. it happened at blossom and calaro avenues. he intentionally rammed several patrol car. abc news reporter sergio shows us dramatic video shot by witnesses.
